Physical Education is an integral part of education and contributes to the development of the individual through planned movement, physical activity and exercise. Our goals in Physical Education underlay many areas and serve as a basis for our objectives.
Our students will acquire the necessary skills and techniques in order to successfully participate in various activities and sports.
Our students will develop and maintain the best possible level of endurance. Working towards this goal means vigorous activities that will develop the heart, lungs, and muscles.
Our students will develop a positive self-image which includes awareness and understanding of the performance of one’s body achieved through basic motor skills. Students will be guided toward realizing his or her potential.
As part of our Physical Education program, all students participate in the Presidential Physical Fitness test. This is a great tool to measure student fitness levels. It is a program that encourages all students to make being active part of their everyday lives. The test consists of four parts; timed sit-ups for abdominal strength, an endurance run/walk, V-sit reach for flexibility and the shuttle run for speed and agility. The students receive a certificate from the President as well as an emblem at a special assembly later in the year.
The required P.E. uniform consists of a TEADS P.E. shirt (one complementary shirt is given at the beginning of the school year), shorts or sweatpants and athletic shoes. Additional P.E. shirts can be purchased.
